Cedar Park will hold a free Mexican Heritage Celebration on Saturday, September 26, featuring live mariachi music, folk art and a tamale-making demonstration.

The event runs from 6pm to 9pm at 550 Discovery Boulevard. It is being presented by Cedar Park Parks and Recreation with Austin Friends of Folk Art.

Organizers say the program is intended to celebrate Mexican culture through music, food traditions and visual art. Admission is free, although food samples and some activities may be limited by capacity or availability.

What is planned

Visitors can expect live mariachi performances and a demonstration showing how tamales are made. A community tamale tasting is also planned while supplies last, so arriving later in the evening may mean samples are no longer available.

An alebrije-inspired art activity will draw on the brightly colored imaginative creatures associated with Mexican folk art. The evening will also include an exhibition of Mexican folk-art pieces.

The city announcement does not list advance tickets, a parking reservation system or a promise that every activity will remain available throughout the full three hours. Families should check the official event notice before travelling in case weather or operational details change.

Planning a visit

The published address is 550 Discovery Boulevard, Cedar Park. Visitors using navigation software should enter the complete street address rather than relying only on the event name.

Because the tasting is specifically described as available while supplies last, it is best treated as one part of the celebration rather than a full evening meal. Anyone with allergies should ask the food provider directly about ingredients and preparation; a cultural-event listing cannot guarantee that a sample is suitable for a particular diet.

The celebration gives residents a local way to mark Hispanic Heritage Month and learn about traditions through artists and performers. It is also an opportunity for families to take part in a hands-on activity without an admission charge.

Full event details and any late changes are available in the City of Cedar Park's Mexican Heritage Celebration notice.
