The Secret Lantern Books & Games is marking its first anniversary in Cedar Park with a month of community programming.

The independent store at 151 South Bell Boulevard says the celebrations include an official ribbon cutting with the Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce on Friday, October 9.

The anniversary brings together the shop's interests in books, tabletop games and creative events. Its program includes book clubs, role-playing games, workshops and author events.

Books, games and a place to gather

Co-owner Dianna Lora said the business was built around a love of books, games, storytelling and community.

The women-owned store describes its mission as creating space for readers, gamers and creatives, including people who do not always see themselves represented in traditional retail spaces.

Its October program continues the activities it has developed over its first year, from game tables and book discussions to collaborations with local vendors.

The owners say the people who have attended events, brought friends and supported the shop have helped shape it.

Anniversary plans

The store's release confirms October 9 as the ribbon-cutting date but does not give a time. Visitors should check the current event arrangements directly before traveling.

Details of the October anniversary program are available from The Secret Lantern’s website.
